Fall 2006
Great Producers I&II is a course intended to introduce
students to the life and work of such brilliant and eclectic
artists and producers as George Martin, Brian Wilson, Phil
Spector, Lee “Scratch” Perry, Jaco Pastorius and
many more. Students are to take notes during each lecture and
hand them in at the end of each class. Also each student must
present a 30-minute lecture in class (on a producer of her/his
choice approved by instructor). There is no mid-Term or Final.
Grades are based on attendance, class notes, class presentations
and class participation.

Week 2: Lecture by Instructor – The Life & Work
of Enoch Light.
Week 3: Lecture by Instructor – The Roots of Reggae.
Week 4: Lecture by Instructor – The Life & Work
of Ed Wood.
Week 5: Lecture by Instructor – The Life & Work
of Brian Wilson.
Week 6: Lecture by Instructor – The Roots of Rock.
Week 7: First series of student lectures presented in class.
Week 8: Second series of student lectures presented in class.
Week 9: Third series of student lectures presented in class.
Week 10: Forth series of student lectures presented in class.
Week 11: Fifth series of student lectures presented in class.
Week 12: Sixth series of student lectures presented in class.
Week 13: Seventh series of student lectures presented in class.
Week 14: Eighth series of student lectures presented in class.
Week 15: Ninth series of student lectures
presented in class.
